The Duggar family’s Great Wall adventure
A two-day Great Wall visit for the family and filming crew, planned by Great Wall Adventure Club.
The family known from 19 Kids and Counting traveled to the Great Wall with a filming crew. Great Wall Adventure Club coordinated transport, local hosts, guiding and overnight arrangements for the 39-person party.
Welcomed by the village
The group left its Beijing hotel in two coaches and reached a courtyard village near Gubeikou for lunch. Two guides joined the family, while local host families prepared a meal and introduced the visitors to village life. The children explored the courtyard, and the crew spoke with one of the hosts about her life there.
Jinshanling on the first day
At Jinshanling, the family used the cable car to reach the Wall and walked among several watchtowers while the crew filmed. The group returned to the village as daylight faded. Great Wall Adventure Club had checked the courtyards in advance and arranged rooms across four inns, with name signs to make check-in easier.
An evening of local traditions
After dinner, village hosts taught some of the children to make dumplings and showed the family how to cut traditional paper designs. The overnight stay gave the group time together beyond the usual quick viewpoint stop.
Mutianyu and the return to Beijing
After breakfast and farewells, the group traveled to Mutianyu. Rain and fog changed the feel of the visit, but the family still explored watchtowers and filmed on the Wall. They had lunch nearby before the coach journey back to Beijing.
