Driver’s
License In China
- Foreign visitors can obtain a temporary Chinese driver's license
in Beijing
If
you are up for driving in Beijing or in China for your travels, it
is possible to receive a Driver’s license. International driver’s
license or your local driver’s license will not work in China.
There are two types of licenses in China you can obtain to legally
drive here. If you are traveling for a long period of time, or on
business, you may choose to get a permanent driver’s license for
your convenience. But if you are on a short term just traveling or
touring Beijing and other parts of China the temporary driver’s
license will be the way to go, on top of which it is much easier,
quicker, and you do not have to run around the city to obtain it.
This article is not going to teach you how to drive or suggest you
to drive. You will have to search the laws concerning driving in
China on your own. Also, the temporary driver license only allows
you to drive rental cars and no other vehicles are allows to be
driven by this type of license.
In
Terminal Three second floor there is the police station where you
will be able to obtain your license. Keep in mind, you will need
Chinese fluency or someone who can help you out to translate your
license into Chinese as well as fill out the form.
There, you will receive the application forms, a medical examination
form, and taken pictures for the license.
With a Chinese driver's license, international visitors can
tour Beijing by driving a rental car. Albeit difficult road
condition in Beijing, experienced drivers do have their own way to
get around in Beijing by enjoying driving a motor vehicle.
