the Great WallThe Great Wall is a true wonder of the world and an absolute must-see for any visitor to this wonderful country. It snakes thousands of miles along the whole northern frontier of the ancient Chinese empire, from the shores of Bohai Sea to the deserts of Gansu. In 1987, the Great Wall was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and preservation work on significant portions of the wall continues today. Great Wall Adventure Club is the specialist who helps you see the great marvel of the Wall. We have Great Wall-only hiking programs and we also have package tour of Beijing that includes the hiking to the Wall.

Tian'anmen SquareTian'anmen Square is the heart of Beijing and the largest public square in the world. The 44-hectare Tian'anmen Square is 500 meters wide, 800 meters long and paved with specially treated light granite slate. Watch for the solemn flag-raising ceremony at sunrise and the flag-lowering ceremony at sunset. The Monument to the People's Heroes and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum stand on the southern end of the square and are visited by millions of Chinese people each year. Here you can experience a sense of the people's love for their country in one of the most historic places on earth.

the Forbidden City Also known as the Imperial Palace Museum or Gugong, the Forbidden City was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties carried out their administration and lived. Now it is open to the public as a palace museum where people can see the great traditional palace architecture, enjoy the treasures kept in the palace, and learn of the legends and anecdotes about the imperial family and the court.

the Temple of HeavenIn ancient China, the emperor was regarded as the "Son of Heaven", who administered matters on the earth on behalf of the heavenly authority. To show respect to the heaven, ceremonies for sacrifices to heaven were extremely important to the emperor. The Temple of Heaven was built for the worship of heaven and prayers for good harvests in 1420 and then became a sacred place in the minds of the ancient Chinese people. They believed that it was the place to convey wishes to heaven. The Temple of Heaven was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1998.

the Summer PalaceEqually famous as the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace is called "Yi He Yuan" (Garden of Nurtured Harmony) in Chinese. The vast imperial playground of the Summer Palace was where the loyal court would escape during the oppressive summer months. It is up to now the best preserved and the largest royal gardens in China.  Located near Beijing University, it is a great place to seek a break from the summer heat!  Enjoy wandering ancient pathways and avenues that were once reserved for the sole use of emperors and their coteries. You may regret it if you come to Beijing and miss visiting these gardens.

The Ming Tombs, located in a picturesque valley of rolling hills and orchards north of urban Beijing, were built by the Ming emperors in an attempt to smooth their passage in to the afterlife. Thirteen emperors, 23 empresses, and many imperial concubines, prices and princesses were buried in the tombs in simple but stately chambers. An impressive marble archway and a seven-kilometer road, known as the Sacred Way, show the way to the burial complex. Sculpted "guards," a set of 12 stone animals, line the road. The first tombs were excavated in 1958. In 2003, the site was recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Beijing University, China's most famous university is always the leading institution of technology and political reforms. Talk to students and know what Chinese new generation is thinking, then you know what China will look like in the next twenty to fifty years.

Beijing Opera (or Peking Opera) has existed for over 200 years. It is widely regarded as the highest expression of the Chinese culture. It has deeply influenced the hearts of the Chinese people.

The other one is climbing the Great Wall. Peking Duck is always served in well-cut slices. The whole duck must be sliced into 120 pieces and every piece has to be perfect with the complete layers of the meat.

A hutong is an ancient city alley or lane typical in Beijing, where hutongs run into the several thousand. As a cultural scene peculiar to Beijing, from the time of its birth, Hutong has acted as the witness of the age-long history of Beijing. Hutong in Beijing mainly started in the early Liao and Jin Dynasties now cluster round Xuanwu District. A day tour through hutongs gives you fresh insight into Beijing's local life.

No visit to Beijing would be complete without a trip to the infamous Silk Street (Xiu Shui) Market.  You can get all kinds of clothing here e.g. shoes, shirts, sweaters, coats, leather jackets, real silk, cashmere, together with watches and the occasional DVD seller.  Most have a brand name such as  Timberland, Tommy Hillfinger, Nike, CK, Adidas, Polo, Boss, Gucci, Prada, D&G, Versace etc. but not all do. Buy at big fractional prices and experience tough bargaining!
