Thanks so much for a really great trip to China. All of your
arrangements worked like clock work. I appreciate
the use of the phone and especially the fact that you stayed in close
contact with me.
My travels around the world have affirmed for me that people are
basically good and caring. All of my guides were outstanding in every
way and I would be happy to welcome all of you into my home at any time.
I had one minor mishap when I returned and was driving back to my home
from Houston. A very large bird slammed into my windshield totally
shattering the windshield and peppering me with glass. I survived just
fine but it was scary. My family joked that I went all the way to China
without a single incident and then got attacked by a bird at home. HA!

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our hike despite it being during the
hottest days Beijing had experienced since 1951. The parts of the wall
hiked were spectacular and we were very grateful for the isolation and
the lack of other tourists. Our guide was fantastic and was very patient
with me especially as the heat slowed me down.

hike to send this along, but I just returned to the U.S. last week and
have been trying to catch up on everything following my two weeks in
China.
However, I wanted to be sure to send a note to the Great Wall Adventure
Club to say THANK YOU! I had an amazing time on our hike from
Jinshanling to Simatai on March 29. It was
easily the highlight of my trip and I could not have had a better (or
more exhausting) time. The experience was amazing and I cannot thank
your organization enough.

equally awesome. She was very knowledgeable and was accommodating to
everyone in the group. I am not sure if it is possible, but if you could

I must comment on the young man who was our guide in Beijing. Apart from
being a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, his concern to help us
when we had the problem at the airport was exemplary. After all, the
problem was my fault - though I am sure Qatar Airways used my
non-confirmation as a cheaper alternative than simply saying the flight
was overbooked. Andy treated us as though we were members of his family,
and stayed with us until everything possible had been done to find us a
bed for the night and to make sure we would be on the next plane.
All the guides did everything they could to make our visit to China a
success, and we owe you a big debt of gratitude for the way you
organised everything, especially at such short notice when we could not
go to Tibet.

"This
was a great and professional service from start to finish. I was going
to be making my third trip to the Great Wall with a friend so I wanted
to see a section I hadn't seen before. I found Great Wall Adventure Club
just by doing a search on Google and was very happy with the experience.
I booked a 1 day hiking trek from Jinshanling to Simatai which was a
definitely not a cake-walk but beautiful. Our guide, Mao, was very cool
and knowledgeable about every section of the wall. Even when we asked
off-the-wall questions (no pun intended) he always had an answer. With a
trans-pacific staff they were able to answer my emails at all hours and
right away and they can book tours in all parts of China. They helped me
with a Xi'an tour as well which I didn't end up booking b/c we didn't
have time for it. Their prices are very reasonable and the best part
about GWAC is that I got the feeling from them that they really had my
best interest in mind instead of trying to "upsell" different tours to
make a higher profit.
After having this great experience with the Wall I wouldn't hesitate to
book one of their Tibet hiking treks or Yangtze/Three Gorges tours. "

"When my 13 year old son learned we may visit the Great
Wall on our trip to China, his request was to go when there wouldn't be
crowds of people. My trip to the section at Badaling 10 years ago was
crowded, and I was sure it wasn't the Great Wall experience he wanted.
An internet search led me to your website and a day hike from
Jinshanling to Simatai looked like the perfect solution. And it was!
When we arrived at the Wall around 9 AM, we were the only people there.
It was fantastic! The view of the Wall snaking in both directions, with
not another sole in site
was truly breathtaking. We hiked for 5 hours and probably saw another 20
tourists that day. Fernando, our guide, was the best. His English was
great, and we enjoyed his insight into the history of the Wall and daily
life in China. We took several bottles of water each, and a picnic
lunch. Sitting on the Wall, sharing a meal, with the mountains
surrounding you, you have time to actually pinch yourself to make sure
you're not dreaming. After our hiking challenge, we chose to end the
trip with a zip line down. Our day on the Wall was the highlight of our
two weeks in China. If you're looking for an outdoor adventure that can
captivate anyone of any age, I highly recommend this trip!"

14 pictures of our hike. The hike was absolutely amazing under blue skies,

compare to our authenticate experience. Their pictures showed a newly
rebuilt wall while our experience felt like we were standing on ancient

"I want to thank you for your help in setting up
my Great Wall hike of April 19. Upon arriving in Beijing I called Lisa
and we chatted for a few minutes then Cheney called about 5 min. later.
Cheney was my guide and was very competent. He kept the pace moving and
was sensitive to my not doing this every day as well as his being twice
my age. All went very well, if I could do that hike two or three times a
week it would be a terrific and healthy activity. With considerably
fewer visitors than Badaling I was most pleased. I visited Badaling in
1992 and it was very crowded. My fellow tour participants went to
Badaling and described great crowds. With the unrestored nature, great
vistas, fewer people and some good physical exercise, and history as
related by Cheney it made for the highlight of my trip to China. I am
indeed pleased that this was on the penultimate day of my China journey,
it made the whole trip move at an upwards curve with JinShanLing to
Simatai the top of the curve.

others who plan to travel to China.
